The silicone hoses are three-ply high heat blue, black, or red couplers used with all SS clamps. The base kit comes with non-coated mild steel application which you can coat or we can for a small fee. Be sure to click the finish you like to purchase before checkout. The air filter is a K&N cone shaped filter that can breathe for the 2.5 liter or 3 liter NA. The standard coating is a clear silver with high temp clear unless you order a polished SS pipe. If you ordered the coating and want a specific color add it to the comment form on paypal at no extra charge but the silver finish is standard. The kit will only draw in cold-air from the bumper area where there is a splash shield for protection from water and debris. Improve your power gains by relocating the filter from the hot engine bay to cool air below your bumper. This colder air allows the engine to increase spark advance and lean out the fuel A/F for more torque and power.

The BAT intake replaces the restrictive stock air box and adds a distinct sound. The cone filter allows more air to flow through, while the reverse cone draws air remotely (behind the driver-side fog light) as cooler air produces more power during combustion. Keep in mind that you will also need to purchase BAT's intake air temperature sensor (IAT sensor) relocation kit.

	2.5 Decent 5 votes DiabloSport Chip (Added on Jan 01 2008) 40 owners, 0 comments The DiabloSport performance chip is a small electronic device that contains a memory chip. On this memory chip is all the code an engine needs to operate; explaining how much fuel to squirt and how many degrees spark timing needs to be advanced (amongst other things). This particular chip contains an exact copy of your factory computers memory contents -- only they've been tuned to operate on 91+ octane fuel. This results in improved horsepower, torque and driveability. The chip also remaps the transmission shift points in an automatic transaxled vehicle, greatly improving shifting times and stiffness. It is recommended that if you bring your Cougar to Mercury dealership for service (especially under warranty), you should remove the DiabloSport chip so that it does not interfere with the dealership's diagnostic computers.

	4.5 Great 25 votes SVT UIM/LIM (Added on Jan 01 2008) 232 owners, 3 comments Dual honed, the larger upper intake manifold will provide the engine with more air as well as better sound at higher RPMs. This upper intake manifold was designed for SVT Contours, and to receive the most benefit from this upgrade switching to the SVT throttle body is also recommended. Because SVT Contours are no longer in production, SVT upper intake manifolds are becoming a rare find. For earlier Cougars (production year 99), upgrading to SVT lower intake manifolds will also yield gains. Later model Cougars (2000 thru 2002) are already equipped with SVT-sized lower intake manifolds.
